Through studying data for 288 Year 2 learners in the ECG Online Tutorial, we observed that individual medical student’s study habits are very different and can range from looking at an entire online tutorial in one session, to logging in many times over the course of multiple days. We were also able to create confusion matrices to show which topics were most confusing to the class. The lecturer was able to address these areas of uncertainty in future lessons.
Overall, we were able to determine that 84% of students rated their ability to interpret ECG as Poor/Very Poor, but after taking the tutorial, 90% rated their ability as Average or better.
The results of this analysis are informing the planning process for future educational materials.
