Uploading a Document to a Resource Area

In addition to uploading a document to an event (see uploading materials to a learning event) you can also upload non-event related (static) documents to a folder in a resource area. Static document resource areas have been developed for:

  • CBL
  • Portfolio
  • Flex
  • Clinical Experiences
  • Quizzes
  • Lab Resources
  • Exams and assessment resources

Adding files to the resource area folder:

  • Sign in to Entrada: https://entrada.med.ubc.ca/
  • If the document you are wanting to upload is in a PPT or DOCX format, save it as a PDF.
  • Select the resource area you’ll be uploading the document to (in this example we are uploading to the CBL Materials Assessment Files folder in 411)

You will now see that your file had been uploaded in the folder.

When the revised file is uploaded you have two versions of the file now available on Entrada.

NOTE: If this file is linked to from elsewhere in Entrada, the link does not need to be changed.

Time Release Options:

If you need to release a document at a certain time, select the Time Release Options at the bottom of the Upload file page. Select the date and time you would like the document to be released. You also have the option of a release finish (file would no longer be available to students).

For admins, a time release file has a little clock symbol next to it:

This is what it will look like to students:

Hidden Folders

Hidden folders can be created by clicking on Add Shared Folder. Under Hide Folder – click hide this folder from students. Folders can also be time released – following the same instructions as above.

Linking a File in a folder to a Content Page:

Students are able to access a folder to locate a file. You can also provide the file as a link on a content page instead. Locate the file in the folder:

Go to the content page you want to link to and select edit page:

Remember to hit the save button at the bottom of the edit page!
