Due to COVID-19, UBC FoM had to look for an alternative to an in-person OCSE exam that ensured the students’, examiners’, and standardised patients’ safety.

EdTech was tasked as a technical lead to provide expertise, to explore solutions, and to provide inputs and guidance to the PLAT team. We facilitated the implementation of a new online system to conduct the OSCE exam virtually.
After reviewing other solutions, SimIQ was selected. SimIQ is a cloud-based system created for recording simulation sessions that enable the instructor to remotely observe and debrief the learners.
With help from EdTech, a special eOSCE online exam module was developed for FOM. EdTech then worked closely with PLAT to develop an implementation plan, including producing resource guides, delivering training and providing technical support during the exams.
