Thank you for working with us on trialing this new way to engage with students after your lecture using the Slido Q&A tool.
Please note: These instructions are specifically for the Slido Week Experiment project. If you would like to learn more about how Slido can help you engage with students at the UBC Faculty of Medicine, please look at our Slido guide.
What is Slido?
Slido (pronounced as Sly-doe) is an easy-to-use engagement tool for remote or hybrid learning events.
How do students access Slido?
Students participate by simply connecting to the Slido website using an event code provided to them before your lecture.
How do I get access to my Slido event?
You will receive an invitation in your email like this one below. Please click on “Go to Slido”. You will be prompted to set up a free Slido account if you don’t already have one.
How does the Slido Q&A tool work?
Use Slido to respond to questions after your lecture.
Students can access the Slido Q&A during and after your event to pose and up-vote questions for you to respond to later.
Step 1: Select your lecture from the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Select the Q&A tab.
Step 3: Click on the three dots next to the student’s question to write a reply.
Step 4: Write your reply to the student’s question and press the green arrow in the bottom right corner to submit your response. Your response will now be visible to all students in this Slido event.
When should I reply to questions?
You can reply to questions at any time that suits you but please ensure that you have replied prior to the week wrap-up.
How many questions should I reply to?
Because students can up-vote questions, it is important that you reply to the top three. If you have time to reply to more, please do.
